Biography
I'm a first-year Masters student from Huntersville, North Carolina, just north of Charlotte. I attended NC State University for my B.S. in Environmental Technology and Management, graduating in May of 2020. During my gap year I worked as a GIS Specialist for the NC Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve. I've been an avid hiker since I was a kid, I enjoy baking but not cooking, and I enjoy both video and tabletop role-playing games. In my undergraduate courses and research I was very engaged in remote sensing, GIS, and environmental change, finding physical geography to have a great intersection of my interests. While not part of my own academic research, I'm also interested in queer geographies and studies.

Research Description
Advisors: Piotr Cienciala and Mark Lara
My research is examining the use of machine learning applied to remote sensing to detect landslides in southeastern Alaska, with the goal of detecting and mapping landslides on a regional scale including British Columbia and portions of the Pacific Northwest. My immediate goals are to build a useful dataset as well as identify landslide occurrence with higher accuracy than currently available. I aim to investigate divers of landslide occurrence and resulting climate implications of exposed and shifted carbon in these events.
